An
Illustrator's Story

Ann James, an
illustrator was born in Melbourne - Victoria Australia in October
1952.
She grew up in Ringwood and attended Norwood Primary School and
Tintern Girls School.
Ann trained as an arts and crafts teacher and taught at Doveton
and Ringwood High School
before being seconded to the Publications Branch of the Education
Department
of Victoria, where she worked as a graphic designer and
illustrator of
educational publications from 1978 to 1988.
Now she Co-directs a Gallery for Children's Book illustration at
Gasworks Park - Albert Park.
Her first trade children's book was " A Pet for Mrs.
Arbuckle "
by Gwenda Smyth, a publications branch colleague.

Richard Linton
was born in Melbourne - Victoria, Australia.
Drawing at an early age and particular interested in all things
nautical.
Richard began
in photolithography after studying among the first at the
Australian School of Printing. His first serious painting of a
sailing ship was in 1957
and after some years made painting his profession. With his
knowledge of printing
Richard produces the highest quality limited edition prints of
his work.

Fleet in Botany Bay
One of the few marine artists commissioned by the Franklin Mint
to have his paintings
reproduced in the old method of hand lithography in Paris at the
famous house
of Moulet renowned for the reproductions of Chagall, Matisse and
Picasso.
Brochures were printed in five languages and marketed worldwide.
His love of history and meticulous attention to detail makes him
a world
authority on the subject and unique in todays art world.

Gil was
educated at Melbourne Boys High School.
Studied under Ian Bow at Victorian Artist's Society.
An interest in art led him to the screen printing industry where
he
successfully ran his own business, being a foundation member of
The Screen Printers' Association. He now produces handcrafted
limited edition prints.

Walter Magilton
Landscape in Oils -
Working from memory and pencil sketch

After
an early life on a dairy farm in Western Victoria, Walter trained
as an Art and Craft teacher
with Education Department of Victoria and holds both an Art
Teacher Certificate
and a Diploma of Art from the Royal Melbourne Institute of
Technology
where he studied Sculpture and Gold and Silversmithing.
Walter has a number of sculpture commissions in Churches and
Colleges
in Victoria and jewllery in private collections, but in recent
years painting has been
the major and more rewarding involvement. He regards himself as a
realist and works
in a range of media, but particularly oil and at a wide variety
of subject matter.
He has a profound affinity with the varying moods of nature, a
legacy of his country upbringing.
The "Grand" landscape is a constant challenge and a
subject he is intimately familiar with.
The paintings can be subtle but at the same time vital and rich
in colour and texture.

Sunbury Rotary Prize and the Lilydale Shire Prize.
